HOW I KNEW ABOUT SWITCHFOOT

I first knew Switchfoot when I saw the music video of their song “New Way to be Human” at a Christian Music TV channel when I was still in college. That was way back year 2002. There were just the three of them that time – Jon Foreman, Tim Foreman and Chad. The young Jon Foreman, sporting a short hair and some mustache, giving a teenage smile that is so innocent looking, never looked like a rockstar at all. Haha.

But that video that time actually did not interest me at all. And there came Mandy Moore with the hit song “Only Hope” from the OST of the movie “A Walk to Remember”. And have to admit to have watched that movie, unaware that it was an original song from the Switchfoot. I was also unaware that Switchfoot’s Jon Foreman sang duet with Mandy Moore in the song “Someday We’ll Know” that I just was hearing on the radio. When I watched that movie, I heard Jars of Clay’s hit song Flood. And I have been a Jars of Clay fan and that prompted me to buy the OST of that movie. One other thing that prompted me to buy the OST is because I hear on the radio this “Only Hope” being sung by a very interesting raspy voice with some appealing guitar plucking. And love to play the guitar, baby. But I was still unaware of this Switchfoot original until I bought the OST. And there you go, found out good good good songs from Switchfoot – “Dare You to Move”, “You,” and there I’ve found “Only Hope” to be originally by Siwtchfoot. And also remembered this was the Christian band I saw a few years back in that Christian Music Channel. Now their songs impressed me and got hooked with their other tunes like “Learning to Breathe”, “Meant to Live,” “Stars”, “This is Your Life”, Shadow Proves the Sunshine,” and the list goes on.
